1080p has its name by the lines of pixels displayed vertically on the screen and the p stands for progressive scan. The number of horizontal pixels is 1920 which means that, for a 1080p the resolution is 1920×1080 (2.1 Megapixels). 1080p resolution is also referred to as HD or High Definition, it is the quality you get watching a Blu-ray movie on your HD TV.
4K resolution explained
Opposite 1080p, 4K has its name by the number of horizontal lines of pixels, which approximateis3840x2160 (8.3 Megapixels). That means that 4k is to times bigger than 1080p with four times more pixels. 4K is also referred to as UHD Ultra High Definition which also includes 8K but that’s a whole other story.
1080p VS. 4K
With the 4K resolution you get a much brighter and better image quality on your UDH TV, of course you need to have a 4k TV to watch anything in 4k resolution. When people, that have seen a 4k tv in action, most of them describes the experience as looking out of a window because the image is so crystal clear. Some might say that is isto much, and wouldn’t watch a movie in 4k because the traditional old “movie look” isn’t there. In my opinion the image just can’t be to crisp, I wane be draw in so I feel like im in the actual movie, and that’s what 4k TV can offer. Like Sony describes it “Get ready for movies youll experience instead og watching” With four times the more pixels on a 4k tv than on a 1080p HD tv, its possible to buy big tvs without losing image quality because there is just so many pixels. You canactually get a 200-inch 4TV and still get the same resolution as you would on a 50-inch HDtv in with the resolution of 1080p. Imagin watching a Blue-Ray movie on a 200-inch TV.Now who wouldn’t want that.
To sum it all up, 4K is the future weather you like it or not. I’m relay looking forward to the day when price levels hits a more consumer friendly level. Theres no doubt that we eventually will se more and more 4k tvs in peoples livingroomssome day in the near future.
